Aaron Watson

Aaron is a gifted teacher, instrumentalist and vocalist who has performed professionally for over two decades in many genres including Flamenco, Nouveau Flamenco, Jazz, Gypsy Jazz, Country, Folk and Rock.  He performs in a number of well known Victoria ensembles including his own locally renowned Gypsy Jazz duo, Cold Cut Combo.   Mr. Watson’s extensive and impressive instrumental talents include accordion, banjo, mandolin, electric bass, sitar, clarinet and saw and probably several more that I don’t know about.  Aaron’s studies and extensive performance background have provided him with rich and diverse musical experiences that continue to reinforce and enhance his teaching.

Aaron has been with us now for over 12 years and during that time we have observed with delight at how his students have grown and how he has continued to evolve as a teacher and artist and now a Dad.

Teaching Philosophy

Aaron creates programs and learning environments that are individual to every students goals and musical adventures, his students love his informal yet balanced approach to learning.  Aaron places an emphasis on making music by building repertoire while maintaining necessary awareness of the fundamental elements required to grow such as ear training, form, technique and functional understanding.

Current Performance & Recording Endeavours

Aaron is an active performer in several styles and continues to record and perform with his group Cold Cut Combo.The Combo’s repertoire features Jazz standards from the greatest composers of the 20th century, including Duke Ellington, Fats Waller, Cole Porter, Carlos Jobim, George & Ira Gershwin and of course the great Django Reinhardt & Stephane Grappelli of the Hot Club de France.

Aaron teaches on Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday.
