Sherry discovered her love of drums at the age of thirteen while she and her parents were on sabbatical in England. When the family returned home, she became a Beatlemaniac, copying Ringo Starr by creating a drum riser out of the fold up tent trailer and beating on Rubber Maid buckets while the turntable stereo blasted out “Help” and “Tell Me Why.”
At the same time, she joined the sea cadets in Winnipeg (Crusader #25) and gained a solid foundation in Highland pipe band drumming. She excelled in her passion for music throughout high school gaining many recognitions and awards, and went on to study Jazz at St FX University where she received a Diploma in Jazz Studies.
Sherry continued to study with top Instructors in North America and develop her versatile drum expertise in numerous styles including: Jazz, funk, rock, reggae, soca, world rhythm, celtic rock, and alternative metal.
She enjoys passing on technical & musical concepts to her students according to their level and seeing them excel in their school bands, cadets, and go on to pursue music at a semi-pro/pro level.
Sherry is recognized by her mentors and among professional musicians for her exceptional drum hands, artistic approach, grooving back beat and passion on the instrument.
